Compõem a Freguesia os lugares de Sonega, Tarro, Vale Manhãs, Fontainhas, Tanganheira, Casa Velha, Burdo, Pouca Farinha, Silveiras, Charnequinhas, Casas Novas, Aldeia do Cano, Catifarras, Espadanal, Chaparral, Geralda, Mandorelha, Retiro do Pontão, Teimosas, Fonte Santa, Matinha, Portela do Salgadinho, Barragem de Campilhas.

No século XIX deu-se um desenvolvimento da exploração mineira, nomeadamente na década de 70, com a descoberta de novos minérios, como barita, manganés e manganite.
A maior exploração nesta zona foi, no entanto, de ferro, existindo cinco minas deste tipo de extração: Cerro da Fonte, Santa de Cima, Toca do Mocho, Serra da Mina, Serra das Tulhas e Serra de Rosalgar. Todavia, estas minas findaram a sua atividade em 2000.

O interessante legado patrimonial contempla a Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, a Casa dos Azulejos Verdes, a Ermida da Fonte Santa, os Chafarizes, a Ponte Romana, os Moinhos de Vento, a Vivenda S. Miguel e as Casas da rua Aldegalega e da ’Rua Velha’.

Quanto à gastronomia, os pratos locais são especialidades alentejanas como o Ensopado de Borrego, o Feijão com Couve, o Cozido de Grão, a Cachola Frita, as Migas Alentejanas, a Açorda de Bacalhau, o Gaspacho e a Sopa de Tomate.
