Location:
Loulé is a portuguese city in the faro district, the headquarters of the most extensive and populous municipality in the Algarve, with an area of 763.67 km².

The municipality of Loulé encompasses two cities, Loulé and Quarteira, and in it is located the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piety (Sovereign Mother).
In the municipality of Loulé are the tourist complexes of Vilamoura/Quarteira, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo (the last two in the parish of Almancil).

With the valuable contribution of archeology, it is known today that the presence of man in the Municipality of Loulé dates back to the Ancient Paleolithic. In the following millennia, in the metal age period, the incursion of the peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean intensified, which progressively penetrate the South-West Peninsular, culminating in the arrival of the Phoenicians and Carthaginians.

These founded the first works on the seafront of the territory of the current municipality, promoting fishing, prospecting for metallurgy and commercial activity.

In the 20th century, the growth of the city was based on a further improvement of communication routes and mining, which attracted more people to Loulé, which resulted in an accelerated construction activity throughout the county.
