· 1156 - Data do aparecimento da congregação dos Carmelitas com devoção a Nossa Senhora do Carmo ou Carmelo;



· 1534 - A capela de Santa Maria do Carmo foi construída e reparada por Mordomos e com esmolas do povo, quando os Duques de Aveiro tomaram conta da Coutada da Arrábida e começaram a cuidar das diversas capelas e a apoderarem-se delas;



· 1553 - Visitação da Ordem de Santiago onde se faz a descrição da ermida e obras realizadas



· 1560 - D. Madalena Giron, 2ª Duquesa de Aveiro decide construir o palácio e fazer obras na capela



· 1611 - A Irmandade de Setúbal manda construir os edifícios de apoio aos romeiros;



· 1676 - Obras realizadas na capela suportadas pelo Duque de Cadaval, governador das armas de Setúbal, que contribuiu com cinco mil reis;



· 1836 - Feito um arrolamento para a fazenda pública, referindo que àquela data a capela era propriedade dos ’bens da paróquia’, apresentando certas confrontações;



· 1892 - Oliveira Parreira escreveu sobre a capela ’(...) faz-se nessa capela uma festa anual onde todos os cabreiros da serra se banqueteiam e divertem ao som da tradicional gaita de foles (...)’;



· 1980 - A Capela d’El Carmen é propriedade de D. Alexandre, da família Palmela;



Entretanto o palácio foi comprado e durante vários anos, o espaço recebeu eventos privados sobretudo casamentos e batizados. Atualmente encontra-se fechado.
