A mesma fonte regista ainda que, neste lugar, ’se fabrica a melhor telha da ilha, e é onde antigamente se criavam os homens, mais fortes e mais robustos, mais animosos de ambas as ilhas’.

Para além do que fica exposto, crê-se que o povoamento desta região ter-se-á encetado na zona da Eirinha Velha, durante o século XVI.
