O caso tornou-se conhecido, voltando a pronunciar-se as palavras «formosa» e «sobreira». Tanto isto aconteceu que, olhando a jovem fiandeira e a árvore, a terra que vivia sem nome passou a denominar-se Sobreira Formosa.
