Another of the wonders of the parish are the Roman salt pans and also the famous rock engravings, one of the largest sets of engravings in the Northwest Peninsula.
’Torn’ by the National Road 13, Carreço is also served by a railway, which reached the parish in 1872, and its trails and paths are currently traveled by hundreds of pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostela. And to the astonishment of many it was in Eira do Amaro, property located on the face of the national road in the parish, that the first camps of what would become the Santoinho were held.
